Friday night at EPCOT was built around MercyMe — Sarah’s band — so we skipped the Food & Wine graze and booked a real table. Chefs de France in the France pavilion is the upscale French sit-down we wanted: culture, window light, and a meal that actually feels like dinner.
We were running late. Missed the tram again — we never catch it at EPCOT — and power-walked the whole World Showcase to France in the heat. Reservation was 5:00. We hit the host stand around 5:10. They sat us within about five minutes. That alone set the tone.
Atmosphere: 8.6. It checked the romantic boxes right away. Everything felt French — the room, the language at the table, the sense that you are briefly inside that culture instead of just ordering “French food” in Florida. We got a window seat looking out over EPCOT. Perfect date-night setup. The ding is the same Disney nit we always hit: tables are tight. A loud couple next to us who had clearly been drinking earlier was annoying for part of the meal. Not the whole night. Still not secluded.
Service: 9.2. Waiter was attentive. Refills showed up fast. Staff speak French with you in a way that feels like hospitality, not a bit. Early seating after a late arrival was the win.
Food: 9.5. No appetizers, no dessert — we were not starving and the entrées were the point. Baguette came out first with salted butter: crusty and a little hard, the way a real baguette should be. I had the Boeuf Bourguignon — braised beef with vegetables, basically a rich beef pot — and it was excellent. Sarah had the shrimp / Fruits de la Mer plate. Big portions. Really good. Pricey, yes — you are paying for the experience and the culture as much as the plate — and it still checked the boxes.
Knup 9.0 / 10. Second-best Disney restaurant meal of our pass year so far, right under Tusker House and ahead of Hollywood & Vine. We would go again. We probably will not on this pass year only because we are chasing new tables — not because this one missed.
