Alyssa was home from college, so Saturday night was a three-person hibachi run — Sarah, Alyssa, and me — at Mizu Sushi & Steakhouse on Narcoossee, just south of Lake Nona on the way to St. Cloud. We have been here before. This is the first time I am writing it up.
There are three or four hibachi spots we rotate locally. Mizu is one of the best we go to. It sits a little hidden in a Publix plaza, small and quiet. Nothing fancy — and that is fine. Clean room, calm vibe, easy to talk. Atmosphere: 8.5. Not the reason you book it. The food and service are.
Service: 9.8. Our waitress was excellent. Responsive, friendly, and ahead of the table — water refills showed up before we could ask. I did not even start a refill timer. That is rare and it matters when you are settling in for a full hibachi plate.
Food: 9.7. Hibachi here is a full meal. You start with soup and/or salad — I went double salad, Alyssa double soup, Sarah one of each. Then the main: a healthy pile of noodles, a ton of rice (you can flip those or double one), and your meat. Sarah and Alyssa both got chicken. I got the steak-and-chicken combo. Quality was excellent, portions were huge, and the taste was right every time we have been. We each walked out with half or more of the plate left. Hibachi leftovers are a gift.
About twenty dollars a person. When that becomes two or three meals and the experience is this good, it is an easy yes. Knup 9.5 / 10. One of the best hibachis in our local rotation — and we will keep going back.
